World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5 June and encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment.
In
this World Environment Day special event, join our member Ramesh Venkataram,
who will be talking about our ecology: why it is important, why our ecology is
getting degraded, and how restoration can help. Ramesh has been an ecological
restoration practitioner since 2008 and he is the first Indian to become a
Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner.
In 2007 Ramesh started
Junglescapes, an NGO for ecological restoration. They have been restoring
degraded forest habitats in and around Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka
since 2008.
Learn from our in-house expert the
difference between tree planting and ecological restoration, as well as a case get a glimpse into the study of his project in Bandipur Tiger Reserve.
At the end of this session, we will
discuss how Silver Talkies Club members can participate in restoration as volunteers,
