What is Blockchain?
Blockchain
is a relatively new technology that everyone is talking about. It is called the
Internet of money or of value and is expected to be the next big thing after
the Internet. It is the underlying technology for Bitcoin, the most well-known
of the cryptocurrencies. It also has several use cases in the areas of finance,
supply chain, marketing, government etc.
In this session you will learn
The one hour session will provide an introduction
to Blockchain. It will cover the history of Blockchain, its characteristics,
advantages and current drawbacks. It will also cover some areas where
Blockchain is being applied. It will attempt to look beyond the hype
surrounding Blockchain.
The session is meant to provide an introduction to
Blockchain. It is not a technical deep dive. The key takeaway for those who
attend the session is an understanding of what Blockchain is, and what it is
not, and how it will impact the way we live and work.

Dr. Sakuntala Rao (Saku) has recently been awarded
a doctorate for her thesis titled The Adoption of Blockchain in Supply Chain
Financing.
She has done short-term courses in Blockchain from
MIT and Oxford.
She is a CA from India and a CIMA and MBA from the
UK and a member of Mensa, the high IQ society.
She worked for 34 years across the globe, largely
in finance transformation in companies like IBM, Infosys, KPMG, and PWC.
